Gold MedalThe 21st Winter Olympic Games are over, but the memories will last a lifetime. For the last 17 days, the athletes of the world have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the pursuit of excellence. The Canadians won Gold in “The Most Important Game in the History of Hockey” by edging past the Americans in overtime. Apolo Ohno won a record breaking 8 medals in short track, and the Americans regained the Gold in the men’s 4 man bobsled after waiting over 60 years! We witnessed heartbreaking failures, redemptive triumphs and unbelievable courage overcoming personal tragedy. Win or loose, all athletes demonstrated an unwavering commitment to their country and dedication to their sport of choice.

Few of us will ever have the honor of representing our country in the Olympics, but what about our personal passions in life? Are  you willing to commit your life to something greater than yourself? Perhaps it’s your career, your hobby, your faith or your favorite charity. Have you faced adversity or outright failure? Are you willing to get up one more time, dust yourself off, and strive again for the gold? Are you willing to do what it takes to be the best you can be? Compared to the excitement of the Olympics, our goals may seem modest, but whether it’s being the best parent to your child, or creating the best place to buy Egyptian Cotton products, your success is predicated on getting up each morning determined to give it your all.

For some of the rest of us, purchasing bedding is a necessity. Yes, you want to sleep on a nice set of sheets and would like the sheets and duvet cover to look like they belong together but you don’t feel compelled to explore every possible combination.  The Bed in a Bag is the perfect solution for shoppers like you. Quality You Can Count On

When scanning the market for new sheets, comfort is more than just the top priority – it’s practically the only consideration. Luckily, in the world of sheets, comfort and durability can both me measured in terms of thread count. Thread count is the total number of threads per square inch in a piece of fabric. If you want to quickly determine the quality of a set of sheets, hold them up to the light. Low-quality cotton is thin and transparent.

Higher-quality items, such as a set of 1200 thread count sheets, will feature soft, luxurious fabric with a visible sheen. These sheets are also more durable than others, so they will last longer and resist shrinkage. Muslin sheets, which average somewhere in the neighborhood of 130 threads per square inch, are no substitute for Egyptian cotton.

Softness from Half a World Away

Despite the best efforts of domestic cotton producers, the secret has gotten out about Egyptian cotton: It’s just so much softer. One wouldn’t think that a crop’s location would make much of a discernible difference, but try telling that to a French vintner. The finest wines are named for their region of production. Along those same lines, the world’s softest cotton is cultivated in the fertile Nile River valley.

At first feel, Egyptian cotton has a surprisingly rough texture. After a trip or two through the laundry, however, a set of king Egyptian cotton sheets attains a softness normally reserved for cloud-dwelling angels. Cotton harvested in Egypt contains a long fiber, which is less scratchy and irritating than shorter-fiber domestic fabrics. If you’re looking for some new bedding, make sure to put the material to the test.

king sized bedWhen it comes to picking the right bed, you need to consider what bed best suits both your comfort needs and your budgetary needs. To that end, your bed needs to be the largest bed you can still comfortably afford. If you live alone, this might well be a twin or full. But if you share the bed with someone else, it’s more than likely that you’re going to need a King or Queen.

You also have to consider, however, that the initial cost of the bed won’t be all your bedding expenditures. You’ll also have to pick sheets and bedding that match the size of that bed. So if you have a King bed, for example, you’re going to need King sheet sets. Also, it’s best to have multiple sets on hand. This way, while you’re cleaning and drying one set, you’ll always have another at the ready.

luxury bedIf you’re interested in finding the best products to fill your home, it’s very likely that you’re interested in luxury bedding for your bedroom. A bedroom, after all, is where many people go to relax and get away from the stresses of work, outside life, and even family. If your room is your sanctuary, make sure you find the most luxurious bedding items to match your luxurious bed. As a general rule, look for higher thread counts, as this means a greater level of quality.

If you’re really looking for top of the line products, make sure you purchase at least 600 thread count sheets. These will certainly stand up well to multiple washings, and they are sure to offer you a great deal of comfort whether you’re sleeping or relaxing in your bed. If you’re giving these sheets as a creative housewarming gift, again, make sure the thread count is at least 600.

Enjoying an Allergy-free Night

Having a child with allergies can be extremely difficult, especially if those allergies are severe. If your children are very sensitive to the chemical additives in standard sheets, for example, they could suffer from hives or other allergic reactions every time they try to sleep on that product. If it’s severe enough, this could even keep them from sleeping properly, and as such, the problem needs to be dealt with.

If that’s the case, you have two major courses of action. One, you can wait and see if the allergy gets any better. Sometimes allergies are only present when the child is very young, and they will eventually grow out of it. But if the symptoms are too severe, or they don’t seem to be growing out of their reactions, your next course of action is to purchase non-allergen sheets. For their bed, purchase some Twin size Egyptian cotton sheets. The higher quality cotton shouldn’t elicit any negative reactions.

Following a Budget on Your Travels

If you’re interested in world travel but you’re on a budget, it can be both fun and frustrating. Scrimping and saving and cutting corners wherever you can on a vacation can lead you to some pretty interesting stories and experiences you wouldn’t normally have. But there’s also times where you want nothing more than to be able to afford that hotel so you can actually enjoy a bed and a real shower.

So if you’re looking to take a trip but want to save some pennies, the best way to go is to make a thorough budget before you leave. Plan how much you’re going to spend on food, lodging, gas, and souvenirs, and stick to that budget. If, at the end of the trip, you’ve actually been fiscally responsible, treat yourself on the last night of your journey. Book an exorbitantly luxurious hotel with your extra savings. The hotel will seem all the more ritzy when you consider that you’re sleeping on Egyptian cotton sheets sets, and the night before you were sleeping in the backseat of your car in a dark and sketchy rest stop.

What Are Cal King Sheets?

Yao MingAnyone who has ever looked into purchasing sheets has probably come across the confusing issue of King sheets. Many people think King sheets come in one standard size, but that is not actually the case. After purchasing King sheets and finding they don’t actually fit on your bed, you’ve probably become aware of the difference between Eastern King and Western King. Eastern King is sometimes referred to as Standard King, while a Western King is alternately called a California King.

The basic difference is that the Standard King will provide four inches of extra width, while Cal King sheet sets provide four extra inches of length. This makes Cal King sheets ideal for the very tall individual. But be aware that a Cal King bed is approximately 72” wide, while a Standard King is 76” wide. If you feel you absolutely need the extra width, perhaps a Cal King bed is not the best option for you. It all depends on your body type and desired amount of personal space. But whichever you think is right for you, just be aware that there are two different types of King sheets with two different sets of dimensions.

Man how has everything

You’ve probably heard the saying that it’s difficult to purchase for the man who has everything. And that is certainly true. If there’s a man in your life that likes to spoil himself, it can be very frustrating purchasing him a gift. A lot of times, people purchase gifts after somebody expresses an interest in something. That digital photo frame looks nice, they might say. And then you’ll sneakily purchase it. But what are you supposed to do if the person immediately goes out and buys it for themselves?

If you continually find yourself left without a gift option, you might have to move to more unconventional surprises. Especially if the person you’re purchasing for has a taste for the finer things, look into 100% Egyptian cotton sheets sets. These sheets are often considered the best, and as such, they are used at exclusive hotels across the globe. This makes a great gift possibility, because it’s luxurious, indulgent, and not something a lot of people would think to purchase for themselves.
