School is out, summer is heating up and it’s time to dig out the beach towels & head to the beach or the pool. What should you look for in a beach towel? For starters, it should be memorable… bright bold colors help. You also want an interesting pattern. Nothing can be more embarrassing than loosing your towel. You also want something soft and absorbent. Egyptian Cotton is an excellent choice for both these features & if you look here you can probably find some on sale.

Don’t forget the sunscreen and your favorite beverage as well. Water is still the best at keeping you properly hydrated. Drink a lot more than you normally would to prevent sunstroke.

Mother’s day is a great time to think about Mom & think about what she means to us… A time to say Thank You!

Thank you Mom for taking care of me when I was too little to take care of myself. Thank you for changing diapers, washing clothes, dishes and dirty little faces. Thank you for reading to us, and taking us to the library, zoo and museums. Thank you for teaching me right from left and right from wrong. Thank you for tucking me in bed at night… pulling the sheets up to my chin, and quietly telling me that tomorrow would be a better day.

Thank you for teaching me to care for myself and encouraging me to strive for excellence in all facets of life. Now that I’m a parent myself, I’m seeing more every day how much you love me and how much time and energy you expended in raising me. Thanks again Mom for a job well done!

April might seem early, but some of you might already be making plans for summer.  For many of us, summer isn’t summer without numerous trips to the beach or swimming pool.  And those of you preparing to venture out in that new bikini… well it’s not to early to start working on that tan.

The 21st Winter Olympic Games are over, but the memories will last a lifetime. For the last 17 days, the athletes of the world have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the pursuit of excellence. The Canadians won Gold in “The Most Important Game in the History of Hockey” by edging past the Americans in overtime. Apolo Ohno won a record breaking 8 medals in short track, and the Americans regained the Gold in the men’s 4 man bobsled after waiting over 60 years! We witnessed heartbreaking failures, redemptive triumphs and unbelievable courage overcoming personal tragedy. Win or loose, all athletes demonstrated an unwavering commitment to their country and dedication to their sport of choice.

Few of us will ever have the honor of representing our country in the Olympics, but what about our personal passions in life? Are  you willing to commit your life to something greater than yourself? After a trip or two through the laundry, however, a set of king Egyptian cotton sheets attains a softness normally reserved for cloud-dwelling angels. Cotton harvested in Egypt contains a long fiber, which is less scratchy and irritating than shorter-fiber domestic fabrics. If you’re looking for some new bedding, make sure to put the material to the test.

When it comes to picking the right bed, you need to consider what bed best suits both your comfort needs and your budgetary needs. To that end, your bed needs to be the largest bed you can still comfortably afford. If you live alone, this might well be a twin or full. But if you share the bed with someone else, it’s more than likely that you’re going to need a King or Queen.

You also have to consider, however, that the initial cost of the bed won’t be all your bedding expenditures. You’ll also have to pick sheets and bedding that match the size of that bed. Having a child with allergies can be extremely difficult, especially if those allergies are severe. If your children are very sensitive to the chemical additives in standard sheets, for example, they could suffer from hives or other allergic reactions every time they try to sleep on that product. If it’s severe enough, this could even keep them from sleeping properly, and as such, the problem needs to be dealt with.

If that’s the case, you have two major courses of action. One, you can wait and see if the allergy gets any better. Sometimes allergies are only present when the child is very young, and they will eventually grow out of it. But if the symptoms are too severe, or they don’t seem to be growing out of their reactions, your next course of action is to purchase non-allergen sheets. For their bed, purchase some Twin size Egyptian cotton sheets. The higher quality cotton shouldn’t elicit any negative reactions.
